Lightbox 2.0 – Litebox 1.0 – More Ajax goodness

Saw some nifty Javascript goodness and incorporated it into my gallery. I ended up using Lightbox as Squible already uses the full prototype.js and effect.js Javascript Libraries. Litebox uses the Prototype Lite and Moo.fx libraries and is much more lightweight. Click on a picture inside the album to see what Lightbox does. Enjoy.

Extended Live Archives

Upgrades

Now the that 2.01 release of WordPress is out I decided to upgrade. I also upgrade to Squible Beta 1.1 and installed the WP-ShortStat Plugin. So far, all is well.

I haven’t upgraded to WordPress 2.0 but found the TinyMCE Plugin for WordPress which has more features than the default install of the new WordPress. Nice!

Site Updates

I’ve been busy creating a website for my church Evergreen SVG and have been working on a website for a couple who will be married next August. I decided to install Gallery 2 and it is now integrated with WordPress thanks to the WPG2 plugin. From the little I’ve seen of Gallery 2, I’m liking it and it seems less bloated than when I used Gallery 1. It does have lots of extra features but most can be turned off to keep it simple. Mattder.com was moved from Dixiesys over to Hostpc in order to consolidate all the websites I maintain. I’ve been happy with the service of Hostpc so far except for the one outage they had due to a hurricane in Florida, but they’ve made changes to make sure that it won’t happen again… well at least not for the same reasons. Finally, since the WordPress default is Kubrick i’ve switched over to Squible Alpha 2.5. Not many people are using it and it apparently has some “borrowed” code from K2.

Zenphoto – a simpler web photo album

Flickr is a great service but I wanted to be able to host my own photos. I have used Gallery (version 1) in the past but it was a bit slow and complex to customize. I recently stumbled on Zenphoto and will have to try it out. In my opinion, simpler is better…and easier to customize.

Stolen Blog Buttons

If you’ve visited any blogs lately, I’m sure you’ve seen many nifty buttons. They all started with a post on Antipixel and soon everyone jumped on the bandwagon. You can create your own customized buttons using an easy to use web page.
